Government is Complicated.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Government seems to get more complicated as time goes on. It doesn’t have to be this way.

While zoning protects single family neighborhoods from being overrun with commercial and industrial uses, it is often abused by local governments to promote zero or low growth agendas. This is unfair to those who have pursued the dream of property ownership and has distorted values as new and exaggerated interpretations of use by planners changes the rules mid-stream.

I am an advocate for those who have worked hard to achieve the American Dream of property ownership and find themselves fighting the very people who they pay with high taxes and abuse their trust. Rules need to be simplified, and service expectations need to be met to restore trust in our local government.

I believe it’s time to take back your rights, keep taxes as low as they can be, promote sensible growth that reflects the needs and values of East Bay township, and start a new chapter in how things can be done better in Northern Michigan. I am hoping you agree with me.

If you do, I am asking for your vote and promise to serve you faithfully.

Allow Me To Shake Your hand

OK, maybe not such a great idea in our current ‘crisis.’

But clearly we want to reach out and connect at times.  Particularly when we have an issue that requires some level of cooperation with those who serve us in government.  Communications with, and availability of our elected leadership is critical for a working community.

This is why in all my years of public service, I have made sure that I can be reached without too much trouble.  I have lived in the same home for 30 years (933 Avenue D), and have kept a land line (929-2067) for those times where folks might need to let me know what is going on.

I try to be as available as is humanly possible.

As someone who has raised a family and lived in East Bay for three decades, I have some of the same concerns as you, have dealt with some of the same issues as you, and expect the best from whomever we elect.  When we reach out to our leadership we have expectations of being taken seriously.

With your support, I will take those concerns and issues to the other side of the phone line to make living in this great area even better!

Jason Gillman For East Bay Township Supervisor

Thank you for visiting.

Different layers of government have different effects on our lives.  For most people there can be no bigger impact on their daily lives than that of township or local municipal government.

The township can tax you, penalize you, work with other agencies to get your roads fixed, or manage your water, sewer and other infrastructure considerations.  It can tell you how many people you can put in your buildings, regulate your septic if you have no sewer, and create untold issues for people who simply want to live their lives without additional complications!

Call me selfish, but I want to live without too many complications as well.  Unfortunately, one must stand up to those who, for all the right reasons, can drive us insane with regulation and limits upon their private property that is both unjust and unwarranted.

I am like you if you value private property rights.

I am like you if you want to pay the lowest possible tax rates for good township government.

I am like you if you wonder why zoning ordinances always grow and never shrink, and are now 10 times the size they were 40 years ago.

Frankly, I am just like so many of you who want solid natural growth in our township without the headaches of worrying if you can put a shed up or put a patio in with the township flying a spy drone over your home to see what you are doing.

Yes sadly, that last part was no joke.

Please keep an eye out here for more information, or give me a call on my home number (in the phone book for 30 years) if you have any questions, would support a sign in your yard, or would like to help with the campaign going forward.

Thanks again for stopping by!
